My first Q at Build Up!  Got in a couple of EC miles this morning with Silverado.  5:30 arrives and we’re joined by RedBox, Frank the Tank, and Mr. Heyman.  Time to get to work!

First order of business: Pledge of Allegiance

Warm Up

  • SSH
  • High Knees
  • Arm Circles
  • Merkins

The Thang

  • Mosey over to the scorer’s tower area for 7’s: Merkins/Squat Jumps, bear crawl in between.
  • Time for the Beast.  Before the workout, I spaced out points in the alley between ball fields at roughly 25, 50, 75, and 100 paces.  The points were marked with orange cones topped with glow stick bracelets from my 2.0’s stash.  They worked great in the darkness!  Round 1 – From the starting line we sprinted to the 1st glowing cone, SSH x 6, Sprint to the 2nd cone, SSH x 6, Sprint to the 3rd cone, SSH x 6, Sprint to the 4th cone where we turned around to sprint back to each of the first 3 cones with SSH x 6 at each stop, then returning to the starting line.  Round 2 – Repeated the process with Lunges between cones and PAX choice of Merkin variations at each stop.  Round 3 – Repeat process with sprints and PAX choice of Squat/Lunge variations.    Unfortunately, due to time restraints we stopped after 3 rounds and moved on.
  • Back at the scorer’s tower: 1 PAX would run up the stairs of the tower, back down and around the concession/restroom area while remaining PAX performed an exercise at the bottom.  Round 1 – Hallelujah’s, Round 2 – Squats.  We all got 2 trips up and down the stairs with lots of reps in between.
  • Mosey back to the flag and circled up for some MARY.  PAX led us in Flutter Kicks, LBCs, American Hammers, WWIIs, and Plank Jacks

COT: Namorama, Prayers, and Announcements – Pray for those affected by the devastating tornadoes in Kentucky.  Quick healing for injured PAX.

I was a little nervous to take the Q at a location that I wasn’t very familiar with, but I knew it would give me the opportunity to work out with some HIMs that I don’t get to see that often.  It was a great experience and I’m thankful for the men who joined me there in the gloom.  Thank you, Khakis, for the opportunity to lead!
