Anyone with semi-functional senses knows that Eastern NC weather has been horrendous as of late – cold, wet, sun-less… pretty much like Seattle at its worst.

The gloom is extra gloomy. The wet permeates all shoes and fabrics. The cold is blanketing.

I don’t know that we adequately value the positive effects of the sun until we go through stretches like these.

One of the overriding messages that resonated with me this morning (and all week) was the notion that we need to STAY POSITIVE with one another… we need to aspire to GRACIOUSNESS. COLD CUT said it best at 6:15, “As men, we don’t have to be here… we don’t have to show up.” With this in mind, and, echoing the wisdom disseminated on SLACK by ABU, I think it is mightily important that we meet men where they are… that we RESPECT THE WALK from the FART SACK. From the fastest to the slowest, the strongest to the weakest, I think it is imperative that we show GRACE and exude ENCOURAGEMENT and ultimately lift each other UP.

Just remember, while It’s easy to notice that the SUN hasn’t been out for some time or that it’s wet and cold, the same can not always be said for the MAN standing next to you or the one who didn’t make it out of the fart sack. We all go through manifestations of internal and external GLOOM in a litany of ways. SO, like COLD CUT and ABU have expressed, I think it’s imperative that we strive to show each other GRACE/RESPECT and be each other’s SUN through all forms of GLOOM.
