The Sasquatch is looming large on the horizon, but 17 PAX posted to #RunStrong this morning before facing the giant hairy monster this weekend. The goal was to give our legs a nice burn and keep our heart rate as high as the hills where the mystic beast dwells. To that end, we searched out a few hills of our own this morning and the PAX didn’t disappoint. Sasquatch beware.

Warmup

SSH (15 IC)

Squats (15 IC)

Merkins (15 IC)

The Thang

Indian run from Elm St. Park to the parking lot at the bottom of college hill.

Count off in 3s

Group 1 – Duff Burpees

Group 2 – Lunges for the length of the parking lot

Group 3 – Run to the top of College Hill and back – plank for the 6

Switch after everyone returns from Group 3.

After everyone hit each station we moseyed over to the College Hill stairs for stair sprints. Sprint to the top of the stairs, sprint back down, plank for the 6. Rinse and repeat.

Run up College hill and back to the flag – plank for the 6.

Move to the lower parking lot at Elm St. Park. Partner up – one partner holds plank while the other partner sprints to the top of the hill and does 5 pushups Merkins (oxygen deprivation was catching up to my brain) and sprints back. Go hard until both partners have made the sprint twice.

At this point YHC was gasping for air and turned it over to String Bean for 6 Minutes of Mary. String Bean started us with J-Lo’s, then passed it to other members of the PAX. It was 6 minutes YHC won’t soon forget, especially Aquaman’s merkins.

COT/Prayer

  • The Freemans – friends of The Closed Hand – burying their daughter today who died in a car accident
  • Tater’s M and Dad recovering

  • Smell Goods is leaving for a mission trip this week.
  • Baseball tournament this weekend – hydration and a strong performance from Oscar Meyer (leave no doubt)
  • Tonka’s brother – and Tonka, it’s hard to see your brother go through things you can’t jump in and help him with.

 Moleskin

Gentlemen, it was an honor to Q my first workout. I’ve only been at this for a few weeks, but all of you have gone above and beyond to make me feel like family. I’ve laughed almost every time I’ve told someone my nickname – it’s becoming a goal and a mindset. The idea of an out of shape 20 something being named “Nice Body” is a bit comical, but pushing myself with you men is removing the out of shape piece of that equation, and maybe one day it will just be a nickname it that FNGs think I have because I’m arrogant or something, haha.

To make good on my promise for a surprise, and to spread the fun around, everyone who posted this morning received a “Nice Body” T-shirt. I tried to add the picture, but check Facebook and Twitter if you’re interested.
