Today was the first day of YHC taking over as site Q for the schoolyard. First of all, thank you to everyone for placing trust in me as this is a great responsibility. To be honest, YHC was nervous and didn’t sleep much last night but found it necessary that YHC take the first Q with the change.
On to the workout, YHC thought about it for a while and what more fitting than to take the PAX back to school at the schoolyard. So we would work a progression through the grade levels in order to make our way to graduation.
Warm-up:
Side straddle hops x 12 IC
Imperial Walkers x 12 IC
Don Quixote x 12 IC
The Thang:
Mosey to the track stopping at one end behind the goal post. Instructions were given that PAX would complete a prescribed exercise at one end and after the school bell rung (YHC brought in my grandfather’s school bell for this). PAX would the run 200 m around the track to the opposite end. Wait for the six with activity but this didn’t happen much as the group stayed together as a whole very well. It was explained to the PAX that the exercises would become progressively harder as we progressed through the grade levels.
Grade 1:
Peter Parkers x 12 IC
Grade 2:
Merkins x 12 IC
Grade 3:
Mountain Climbers x 12 IC
Grade 4:
Plank Jacks x 12 IC
Grade 5:
Spiderman Merkins x 12 IC

Now we progressed on to middle school and the exercises becoming more complex and more difficult
Grade 6:
Jump Squats x 12 IC
Grade 7:
Jump Lunge x 12 IC
Grade 8:
Clap Merkins x 12 IC (slight pause in the middle due to YHC’s breathing issue)

We now moved on to the High school grade levels with increase in complexity of exercises as well as transition to partner work.
Grade 9:
Booyah Merkin x 12 OYO with partner (shoulder tap merkin)
Grade 10:
Squirkin x 12 OYO with partner (merkin with partner holding feet followed by opposite partner squat)
Grade 11:
Bropees x 12 OYO with Partner (partner burpee with high 10 at the top)
Grade 12: In order to graduate you have to face the final exam
100 yard partner wheelbarrow OYO (alternating as needed)
Since all pax passed with flying colors YHC added a little extra credit in the form of a 400 m run OYO.
Mosey back to the flag.
Well YHC explained that when an individual moves on to college there is a tendency to get complacent, lazy and lay around too much.
Pax on their 6 for freshman year:
LBC x 25 IC
Gas pump x 25 IC
Sophomore year you have to work a little harder:
Hillbillies x 25 IC
Flutter Kicks x 25 IC
Junior year you realize that you have to quit slacking and put in some work
People’s chair (YHC called recover)
People’s chair with alternating foot raises x 25 IC
Senior year you really have to put in the work and finish strong.
Balls to the wall (YHC called recover)
Balls to the wall with alternating hand raises x 12 IC
Mosey back to flag (not so much moseying though)
6:15 hard stop

Again, I want to thank everyone for allowing me this opportunity to take over the schoolyard. I consider this a great responsibility and don’t take that responsibility lightly. I am of course new to this role so I may be leaning on others at times for guidance but I also expect those around me to offer suggestions when things may not be quite right. Thanks again!!
