Today marks YHCs first post at the Ruck format at 116. Been there many times but this would be with a different twist. We won’t run. We are Ruckers, so we carry heavy stuff. 6 studs showed up, 5 for EC to get in some miles.

Warm-Up – Our warm-up was simple. Merkins IC; Squats IC; OH Press IC. Then we got rolling up the hill to Reade Circle.

The Thang – When you don’t have a heavy log; sometimes you improvise. We made a Ruck Log out of our own Rucks and carried it in teams of 3. This slowed down the pace, but made for some teamwork and lessons on how to carry an awkward coupon.

At the intersection of Reade and Evans, we broke up the log and picked up time, heading towards the McDonalds. On 9th St, the Qs trunk opened and revealed 4 sandbags. Expected the unexpected. We used the carabiners to make a Pain Train out of the sandbags – #50×2 and #60×2. We learned a vital lesson with the Ruck Log and by interlocking our arms, we shared the burden. That proved to be the moleskin for this workout. We made it up the Parking Deck to take a photo and then broke up the Pain Train to individually move the sandbags back to the Flag. It was a good movement.

BOM/COT – Prayers for Levi and the continued increase of his White Blood Count. The Closed Hands Grandfather in Law fell and is in PA.

Moleskin – Today started out being about carrying heavy stuff. Both the Pain Train and Ruck Log were two evolutions YHC has done during Heavies and both are desirable to teach teamwork and never be done again. The Closed Hand mentioned the power of locking arms and sharing the burden and that changed the entire purpose of this workout. Only by joining brothers who are fit enough and strong enough to do the work, can we then lock arms – to form a Shield Lock – and carry more than we could as individuals. Today was that kind of day.

We were glad that Joker has the tracking skill of a bloodhound with big ears as he had to drop the kids off at the pool and missed the first part of EC. Panther joined up as the Commons and then was man enough to ruck back to his car. Pied Piper joined us for EC and then spent the rest of the day being the hostess with the mostess at his tailgate lot. With the ECU victory, he made a good choice. Bearded Jester is a heck of a beast and could have probably carried YHC and three sandbags at the same time. He is certainly becoming a Mad Mother Rucker. Flip Turn was an unexpected and more than welcomed addition to our team. The dude is strong, fast, and smart. Can’t wait for him to sign up for a GORUCK event. The Closed Hand was a stud. YHC knew we were going to carry heavy stuff and he was one man that needed to be on our team. He was the original GRT in F3ENC and we are planning on his first Heavy, soon, very soon.
