The idea behind A Boy Named Sue is to offer up the toughest workout possible to make you tough, like the name Sue did for him. Ma Bell, Cousteau, and YHC did this workout sometime around hour 14 of  the Mog Mile HTL. It was a burner and so worth it. The Q showed up at 0508, just because but an ECU officer pulled into the lot just before, so a drive by was conducted. At 0512 the officer was in full ticket mode, so Plan B was to park at Elm St and run over, with two Kettlebells, a tall flag, and a large whiteboard. All the pax did this except for the last two. No tickets were issued, so the risk was worth it. 10 studs showed up at A Boy Named Sue to do something difficult. Here’s how it went down.

No Warm-Up; WE’LL DO IT LIVE. That’s what the mile run is for, at least that’s what Cadre Belman said.

The F3 Greenwood Mog Mile

  • Run 1 mile – College Hill Parking entrance to Gateway Overbridge & back x 2
  • 50 pull ups
  • 4 rounds of 25 lunge steps; 25 squats
  • 4 rounds 25 merkins; 25 yd sprint
  • 100 coupon thrusters w/KB
  • 50 pull ups
  • Run 1 mile

Mary – There’s no stinking Mary. We modified and all took the last 1/2 mile College Hill stroll to finish.

BOM/COT – Praise for Abu’s Dad who is doing well with cancer prognosis.

Moleskin – This workout was conceived as a way to do something tough and to do something unusual. It seems designed to get the pax “to get prepared for the expected and be prepared for the unexpected.” This means that you know to bring KB and running shoes. Some weeks, like next week maybe a ruck and sandbag. That will be announced. The unexpected part is you don’t know where we will meet (until the week before) or how it will be tough. Just an aside, it’s always nice when YHC has trouble getting off the porcelain throne after a Q. It brings a sly smile across the face. Can’t wait until we meet on Monday 11/11 at Town Commons at the War Memorial for a Grammar Q.
