It has been a tough week for the YHC, as his beloved Hokies lost for the second year in a row to the Pirates. The Pirate faithful have been quite polite and refrained from rubbing my nose in it, which is much appreciated and a little unexpected. While that has been a nice surprise, it has not softened the disappointment that I experienced on Saturday afternoon in the rain. Over the last few days, I have used that disappointment to inspire today’s workout. The clock hit 5:30 and 16 PAX members had gathered in the humid gloom. After a quick disclaimer we were off.
The Thang
SSH 11 IC
RUN TO PULL UP BARS
DQ 11 IC
RUN TO HILL THAT LEADS TO THE CENTER TRAFFIC CIRCLE
Eleven was a pivotal number in the game on Saturday. It was the number of ECU’s juco quarterback James Summers. Sitting in the rain, watching this young man run all over Bud Foster’s defense was heart breaking to the Hokie fans. So in honor of #11 and his heroic performance, I made it my plan to try to make the PAX as sick of the #11 as I was on Saturday.
ELEVENS – BURPEES AT THE TOP OF THE HILL AND SQUATS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL
PLANK FOR THE SIX
MOSEY TO WALL IN THE CENTER AREA BETWEEN THE FIELDS
Eleven was also pivotal as it is the number of Hokies corner back, Kendall Fuller. Considered one of the best CB’s in the country, Fuller was a game time scratch due to a knee sprain. ECU quickly exposed his absence with big pass plays that put the Hokie defense struggling to stop the ECU offense all afternoon long. So in honor of the missing #11, I kept the elevens theme for one more set.
ELEVENS – DIRKINS AND JUMP HIGH KNEES
WALL SIT FOR THE SIX
RUN TO FLAGS AND PAIR UP
Eleven was not just the numbers of the players that impacted the game. It was also the number of penalties committed by the Hokies on Saturday. No ref blaming here, as the Hokies have had 11 penalties their last 3 games. So a penalty is kinda like a coupon in the F3 world. It makes it just a little harder to accomplish the task. One more shout out to Mr. Summers, this guy gained 169 rushing yards against the Hokies on Saturday and that is quite an accomplishment. So, YHC had each team GRAB A COUPON for the following:
PARTNER 1 – WEIGHTED SIT UPS – 169 TOTAL BY THE TEAM
PARTNER 2 – BEAR CRAWL TO CONE AND BACK, MID WAY THROUGH WE CHANGED FROM BEAR CRAWL TO DUCK WALK
