I haven’t Q’d a workout in a while so when Boston Lager needed help at RunStrong a while back I decided I knew a thing or two about running and I can lead some PAX on a nice stroll.  The Sunday before Abu and I were getting some EC in after The Commons and he mentioned they were considering a new AO at Town Common on Tuesday mornings but this one would focus on the hills of the grid.  I already had a few routes planned for Tuesday but after our conversation I knew which one we would do.  I pulled up and was excited to see a nice group of PAX to lead.

 Warmup

No FNGS, we did a few high knees then decided we were there to run

“We are going to get a preview of next weeks AO”.  Potter thought this meant we would run to a hill and stare then run back.  Took Elm St. to 1st. St. we made sure to circle back for the six at 5th and 1st st.  Took 1st St. to The Summit but made sure to circle back for the six at Harding.  The hairs Al Gored for the 6 at Summit. We tackled the hill on 2nd street from end to end.  It’s .22 miles from end to end and goes up and back down half way.  At each end we did 5 squats. Tortoise took off, and Abu went after as usual.  Then we repeated ourselves back to ESP.

In the end we all go somewhere from 4.5-5+ miles.  Most PAX felt the burn of the hill in their legs.  Floater even mentioned he has ran in Greenville for 30+ years and never knew 2nd street hill was there.  Which hopefully with the new AO TheSummit we can expose to other PAX the value of tackling the hills.

As a runner I love seeing the growth our run AO’s are starting to have.  When Abu mentioned the idea of another AO on the same day as RunStrong I was hesitant to throw my 2cents in the conversation.  Then I realized how much it is needed.  Yes it is great to see a group for 25 PAX at RunStrong.  But each week I usually only get to Fellowship with a handful at best.  And let’s be honest, the fellowship part is why we come back for more.
