YHC’s plans were to pass the Q to a PAX member that I knew would deliver a quality beatdown.  G-String was at the top of my list, but for some reason I delayed getting in touch with him.   On the way to church Sunday night, a “blue” light bulb went off in my head while driving down College Hill, and I was happy that I didn’t ask.  This one was mine.  I’ll get up with you later G-String.

Since it was a new route, I wanted to make sure the timing was right, and so tested out my plan Monday after work.  I was pleased, even though I underestimated how zigzaggy the route was.  The map makes it look more like a rectangle. The PAX would need to stick together so nobody would get lost.

Due to the cold temps, YHC left his house a little later than usual.  I passed by and picked up Skipper, who was heading to his car, since it is always better to carpool to get a couple extra minutes of fellowship in.  Our late departure about bit us in the rear as we got stopped by a train that seemed to never end.  We pulled up to a parking lot full of cars with just enough time to plant the shovel flag.  5:30 hit and it was on.

Blue Light Special Explanation:

We are going to run around campus stopping at every blue (emergency) light to perform a burpee complex before moving on.

5 Merkin Burpee Complex: Merkin, Peter Parker (Left Knee to Elbow), Merkin, Peter Parker (Right Knee to Elbow), Merkin, Peter Parker (Left Knee to Elbow), Merkin, Peter Parker (Right Knee to Elbow), Merkin

To keep the PAX together, you can choose to do a 3 Merkin Burpee complex, Merkins only, a regular burpee, or skip the exercise all together.

Enough talk.  Let’s Go!

Warm-Up

10 Squats IC

10 Good Mornings IC

10 Alternating Jump Lunges OYO to “get fired up” and to wait for Fred Stinko to join the circle as he pulled in the parking lot

Run a counter-clockwise loop around main campus until we reach College Hill.  YHC improvised a little during our campus tour by adding some squats and extending the route so the PAX stayed together.

Once we got to College Hill it was 6:02.  YHC gave 3 options so everyone would make it back on time.

Route 1: Pick up the pace (or Jailbreak pace according to Wimpie) to zigzag blue lights up College Hill to 14th to Elm back to the shovel flag.

Route 2: Run up College Hill skipping the blue lights back to the flag.

Route 3: Cut through the greenway path to the flag for Mary for the 6.

Kudos to Cable and Chestnut for challenging themselves with Route 1.  Way to push!

YHC arrived at the shovel flag at 6:13 to finish up some grave diggers courtesy of String Bean.  Hot Pursuit followed with some varied cadence flutter kicks and Wimpie closed us out with some famous Smurf Jacks in honor of Papa Smurf.

Give or take 25 Blue lights, 125 Merkins, 100 Peter Parkers, and 3.7 miles.

Not much mumblechatter today, at least from what I could hear.  Good work!

Prayer Requests: Gamecock, Papa Smurf along with other PAX members recovering, Underdog’s wife’s brother recovering from post-concussion syndrome after a car accident a couple months back.

Announcements: Lunch at Peaden’s today at noon, Wednesday Happy Hour at Carolina Ale House upstairs at 5:30, next Tuesday (February 7th) will begin bible study at Hot Pursuit’s house using Hand Me Another Brick: Timeless Lessons on Leadership by Charles Swindoll. Crack Corn is doing another one.  Check the Twitter Machine for more information.  Hometown, who achieved the Plank 2.0 today, will be the Q at #TheSchoolYard tomorrow.
