During the #thecommons  run on Sunday, YHC was head locked by Abu to Q #Runstrong. Since YHC rarely gets to post during the week I thought I might as well make the most of it so I quickly accepted the offer. While searching for a plan and some patriotic motivation for this Holiday Q, I ran across several July 4th 5k’s taking place across the country. I thought a “Happy Birthday Merica 5K” would be the perfect workout for #runstrong on the 4th. As most of the Patriotically-adorned pax had arrived by 0530, we moseyed the tennis courts.

Warm-ups at the Tennis courts: right side shuffle the first side, backward run across the back, left side shuffle the far end and butt kickers back to the start. Line up along the Elm St end of the courts for suicide sprints to the doubles out of bounds line for each court.

The Thang:

The Happy Birthday Merica 5K. The race started and ended at the entrance to Elm St Park (check Pax tweets for GPS maps of the run).

The Pax finished the 5k with 10 minutes to spare (all finished in under 30 mins). On to the Tennis courts for Mary.

15 Flutter Kicks, 15 Hello Dolly’s, 15 WWI sit-ups, Guantanamo.

Announcements:

Sasquatch 7/29, Sign up! There’s still time to train, get after it! Water and Gatorade donations are needed, site Q’s can collect at AO’s. Support personnel for the Sasquatch needed.

Moleskin:

I was a great showing by the Pax today; a few set PR’s and at least one spilled merlot, both are evidence of putting forth maximum effort! It was entertaining to see the patriotic gear worn by some of the Pax. A few can now say they’ve run a 5K around Greenville in their underwear.

Welcome Sky Fortress! Sky Fortress (59) has at least one recent marathon under his belt and is an avid runner.

I wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July. God Bless America!
