Warm up: We Ran to the corner of 1st Street and N Greene Street.

The Thang: We Ran from Greene Street to Mumford Road. Right on Mumford all the way to Pactolus Highway. Back to the flag.

I have developed a deep love of running, especially on Sunday mornings at #thecommons (or Runstrong as our Nantan thinks this is called). Not a much better way to start my favorite day of the week. Now being the Q is quite out of my comfort zone. It is much easier to just show up each week and just run and not open yourself to the responsibility/constructive criticism that comes with it. It always pushes me for the good and I am grateful for the opportunity. I am a better man for it.

When I was laying out the route for everyone that was listening (looking at you Cousin IT), there was some mumble chatter about how String Bean had previously done this exact route. Yes that’s true and yes I stole it on purpose. It is kind of difficult not to repeat routes occasionally when we are starting from the same spot and shooting for the same distance every week. It got me thinking back to my favorite times at this site and this was right up at the top. Something about getting away from the grid of downtown is refreshing. It provided one of the best 2nd F opportunities last time around (being I got to get to know Harry Potter for the first time – He’s alright I guess) and this time didn’t disappoint.

In reflecting on things that have previously been done, it led me to an unashamedly segue to the Whetstone Project. There are so many guys in our tribe that I look up to and have done the same life route that I’m currently going through.  Being in the earlier stages of being a husband and father, the wealth of knowledge that I gain from spending time on these runs talking with these guys that I look up to is invaluable. If I copy the routes that they have taken, I’ll be in pretty good shape. Abu spoke to the group a little earlier in the year of confessing our struggles and keeping each other accountable. We all have/have overcome various demons and I am looking forward to formalizing this mentor ship more this year.  Beyond excited to see what it does for our group. Here is the link to sign up:
