Strokes contacted me a few weeks ago about Q’ing the Commons in the next coming weeks.  Looking at the calendar, the 24th worked best for me because I knew that would get me out there before the Christmas festivities began.  I have always enjoyed this running workout but wanted to mix things up a bit this time.  I thought about some of my favorite spots in the area that we have been to throughout 2017 and went to those and did a few exercises to break up the run with.  I was hoping to have a decent crowd but never sure with it being the day before the huge birthday party of Jesus.  String Bean was trying to encourage the PAX to wear their ugly sweaters and was curious as to who would answer the call.  There was a slight mist in the gloom and when it was time to begin we had 22 PAX.  Some had shown for EC and at 6:00 we were off.  It went a little something like this:

Warmup

6 Side Straddle Hops IC

Off to the Fountain on ECU Campus

At Fountain – 15 Urkins IC

Split PAX into two, one goes one way and other group goes the other way around the sidewalk – jog two lightpoles and then sprint two lighpoles – Rinse and Repeast

Off to the Chemisty Building on Campus

Pair up – one partner up to top of building, sprint to other side, down steps, and spring back;  other partner squats

Off to College Hill

Run to Top and then go back for PAX – went back and gathered at crosswalk in middle of college hill

Run backwards up to top of College Hill – Plank for the six

Run down 14th to Elm, to Gville Blvd, to Charles to Entrance to Minges;  Urkins and Jump Squats until Six

Run to Parking Deck

Not enough time so we all head back to flagpole as a group

Great run and route this morning through campus and downtown area.  Running is tough sometimes with a PAX of 22.  I wanted to stop at different locations that I have really enjoyed over the last twelve months.  As a running workout, lots of mumble chatter about having to stop and do a few exercises, some more than others.  I love some mumble chatter in the group as it keep each other engaged, laughing, and not thinking about the actual workout.  The good thing about being the Q is that it doesn’t really matter what the PAX think – you are in charge and it is your workout.  The pre-blast explained so the foundation had been laid.  I encourage those who have not Qed in a while to step back up.  There really is something special about it.  Also, thanks to String Bean, Nice Body, Spalding, and Rafiki for the Christmas Sweaters – showing the true Christmas Spirit.  Great workout by the PAX and I wish everyone a Great Christmas Eve and a Merry Christmas!!
